Here’s a shot of my sweet mama, Carol, from before her diagnosis. Today, some 15 years later, at 82lbs in Late Stage Alzheimer’s, she can’t move about on her own but still loves the smell of her garden, listening to Chuck Berry and eating ice cream. She doesn’t speak and can’t see well but, if she could, I imagine she’d say “what in the hell have you people done to my hair??” which is the reason I’m posting this old photo instead of the one shot at her Mother’s Day celebration today. I love you, mom. And goodnight to all the strong mamas!
